Community Christmas Dinner to be hosted at Havre Eagles Club

Event still looking for volunteers

The Havre Eagles Club will once again hold their annual Community Christmas Dinner Dec. 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. but they are looking for more volunteers and donations to make the event happen.

Havre Eagles Secretary Doug Denny said they are always looking for volunteers and contributions since it takes a lot to make the event happen every year.

“It takes quite a few people to deliver close to 400 meals,” Denny said. “ … We’ll find something for them to do.”

People can call the club at 406-265-9551 to volunteer.

As for the dinner itself, Denny said, it will feature mashed potatoes, green beans, pie, dinner rolls and a greens salad, but ham instead of turkey this year.

He said the price of turkey this year is out of control so they had to opt for ham instead.

Denny said he hopes to go back to turkey next year, but maybe ham will be more popular than he thinks.

“We’ll see how it goes,” he said, “Maybe ham will become the new big thing.”

He said the meat was donated by Milk River Gobblers this year, and he would like to thank the group for that contribution.

Denny said people interested in getting the meal delivered can call the Eagles Club between now and Dec. 23 otherwise they can to come to the club to eat and he cautioned that delivery meals wouldn’t include the salad.
