Fires burn in a Bureau of Land Management prescribed burn Dec. 9, 2021, at the Camp Creek project area in the Little Rocky Mountains northeast of Zortman. The BLM north-central Montana District's fuels program staff will start prescribed fire operations today, at the Camp Creek fuels-reduction project management area in Montana's Little Rocky Mountains, located about 1.5 miles northeast of Zortman and one-quarter mile east of the Camp Creek campground.

People may see smoke rising in the Little Rocky Mountains near Zortman starting today as Bureau of Land Managment's north-central Montana District fuels program staff planned to begin conducting pile burning on BLM-managed lands at the Camp Creek project area near Zortman.
Burning operations will address about 14 acres of woody hand piles located about 1.5 miles northeast of Zortman and one-quarter mile east of the Camp Creek campground on the northwest slope.
Favorable burning conditions are present with on-site snow accumulation of approximately 10-12 inches.
