Before you know it, it will be tournament time. That's why every game in the District 9C last weekend was huge.

In girls basketball action last Thursday night, the Chester-Joplin-Inverness Hawks outlasted the Fort Benton Longhorns 31-28 to start a busy week of hoops. Brynn Kamerzell scored 18 points for CJI, while Casha Corder had 13 for the Longhorns.

Thursday night also saw Box Elder dominate Harlem in an 87-45 win.

On Friday night, Chinook beat North Star in a key 9C showdown, 57-35. The Beeters closed out the Knights with a 22-10 run in the final quarter to remain unbeaten at 8-0. Hallie Neibauer drained 25 points, with Alexus Seymour hitting for 11 and Bree Swanson adding eight. No stats were reported for North Star.

Also on Friday, Big Sandy dominated Turner, 60-37. The Pioneers improved to 5-4 with a home win over the Tornadoes. Eva Yeadon scored 28 points to lead the Pioneers as Jaihaven Baumann also contributed double figures with 12.

North Star rebounded Saturday with a 59-43 win at Turner. The Knights got 23 points by Kaytlyn Domire, while Laynie Sattorivas added 14 and Kira King had 10.

Chinook kept on winning Saturday as the Suagrebeterts beat Fort Benton 44-35 at home. Chinook closed the game on a 17-7 run. Alexus Seymour scored 15 points for the Beeters, while Casha Corder had 14 and Emerson Giese 13 for the Longhorns.

Big Sandy was victorious again as well, as the Pioneers knocked off CJI 62-51. Eva Wagoner and Eva Yaedon combined for 41 points for the Pioneers, while Brynn Kammerzell scored 14 and Brie Mattson added 13 in the loss for CJI.

Box Elder also crushed Hays-Lodge Pole 81-31 Saturday night.
