Obituary - Richard "Dick" Anthony Preputin

Richard "Dick" Anthony Preputin,77, born on May 22nd, 1945 in Conrad to Stephen and Erma (Williams) Preputin, died January 25th, 2023.

Dick graduated from Conrad High School in 1963. He then attended and graduated MSU Bozeman and majored in ag production. While in Bozeman he met Rosalie McCormick and they later married on October 25th 1969 in Shelby. They first lived in Cut Bank for that winter. They then moved back to Brady to take over the Preputin farm.

Dick's true love in life was his kids and grandkids. He would travel miles upon miles to make sure he had a place in their life, and they knew him. He loved to spend time with them. His other true passion and pride was Preputin Trucking. More than the job itself, he loved the customers he served.

His other loves were to spend time outside hunting, fishing and riding his beloved horses. His favorite times were also spent at the family cabin in Lakeside where you could catch him taking an afternoon cat nap and enjoying the scenery, peacefulness and a beer. Dick's life was full of love, laughter and what he would call "windshield time." This windshield time was spent looking out his windows at scenery, which could make the trip interesting for his passengers all except his beloved copilot, Charlie. In his many trips, he would love to go the pawn shops and look for his next treasure, probably a new gun. There is not someone he met that he did not instantly like, and he didn't leave an impression on. He also loved to tinker on the farm and make his own adjustments on anything to make it work for him.

Dick was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.

Dick was preceded in death by his father; mother; brother; granddaughter, and his first wife.

Dick is survived by his sons, Christopher Preputin, Shawn (Dominique) Preputin of Havre; daughter, Jennifer (Sonny) Romero of Idaho; grandchildren, Stephen Preputin, Koby Preputin, Annabelle Romero and Riggins Romero.

Memorials can be made to NRA, FFA, 4-H Clubs and Back Country Horsemen.

Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, February 2, at 1 p.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church.
