Obituary - Keenan Leo Duncan

Keenan Leo Duncan, 71, passed peacefully on March 27, 2023 in Great Falls with family by his side. His Memorial Service was held on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Havre, Montana, with a luncheon following.

He was born on February 16, 1952, in Conrad, Montana to Earl and Olive (Davis) Duncan. In his early childhood the family lived on the Two Medicine River and then moved to the Duncan Ranch east of Conrad in 1959. He graduated from Cut Bank High School in 1970 where he lived with his Uncle Lyall and Aunt June Duncan. After high school, Keenan attended Northern Montana College in Havre and Montana State University in Bozeman.

The next 50 years Keenan called the Rocky Mountain Front and Golden Triangle home, where he worked in farming and ranching. Keenan struggled with mental health all his adult life that led to alcohol addiction. Through those struggles to stay sane and sober he worked the Alcoholic Anonymous program and found the Lord.

He committed his life to reaching out to those struggling with sobriety and faith. Keenan wore out many phones staying in contact with those who needed encouragement or straight talk in their journey for sobriety. He became a Gideon and spread the Word.

Keenan never knew a stranger. He frequently visited people in nursing homes in Browning, Cut Bank, Shelby, Conrad and Havre wanting them to know they were not alone. He wanted everyone to "love one another with all their heart." His friends say he had the purest heart they know.

Keenan is survived by his sisters Rhonda (David) Ramsey of Buffalo, WY, Susan (Mark) Elings of Lewistown, MT, Kathy Lynch of Havre, Khristy (Bill) Barber of Belgrade, MT, and Kelly (Al) Turk of Benson, AZ' step-mother Linda (Jim) Griggs of Havre, step-siblings Tommy (Kate) Knobel of Colorado Springs, CO, Debbie (Brian) Williams of Taber, Alberta, Cindy Fuson of Conrad, MT; Uncle Bert (Barbara) Duncan of Great Falls, MT and Aunt June Duncan of Cut Bank, MT, and Aunt Rose Mary Love of Billings MT; many nieces and nephews and too many cousins to count.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents OK and Elizabeth Davis, Oscar and Minnie Duncan and his parents Earl and Olive Duncan.

Memorials may be made to Gideons, Havre A.A. Club House, or Feed My Sheep Soup Kitchen of Havre.
