Havre Daily News staff

A Caregiver Respite Retreat is being sponsored in Havre by Montana State University Extension Healthy Aging, which includes a stipend for caregivers who attend.

A release from MSU Extension Hill County said each caregiver will receive a $100 gift card to help cover costs of caregiving in their absence or for their own self care.

A team is coming from Bozeman to hold the April 20 retreat, headed by MSU assistant professor Daniel J. Koltz, Ph.D., MSU Extension Family and Consumer Science gerontology specialist. Koltz is the Department of Health and Human Development Gerontology Certificate Program leader and and the Montana Caregiver Respite Retreat Program director.

The program, sponsored by MSU Extension, Montana Department of Health and Human Services and Montana Lifespan Respite, is free but registration is required.

The retreat will run at Great Northern Hotel, 1345 First Street in Havre, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 20.

For answers to questions and to register, people can call Extension Agent Kati Purkett at 406-400-2333.
