Margaret was born April 26, 1925, in Inverness to Irvin and Christine (Schneible) Walker, the oldest of seven children. The family lived north of Hingham. Margaret attended Rudyard High School, and June 5, 1943, she married Frank Huestis. After Frank returned from his military service in Germany, the couple farmed for 21 years north of Gildford, where they raised their family. In 1968, they sold the farm and moved to Havre, where Margaret worked as a clerk at Buttreys for over 12 years until her retirement in 1983.

Margaret and Frank enjoyed camping and playing cards with family and friends. After her retirement, she volunteered at the Lutheran home of the Good Shepherd and Northern Montana Hospital. She was a 4-H leader and served as vice president of the Milk River Good Sams Club. Over the years, she was a member of Goldstone Lutheran Church, First Lutheran Church, and Fifth Avenue Christian Church. Margaret's strong Christian faith and great love of her family and friends were her greatest joy in life.
