Some Hill County roads still closed due to flooding

Staff and wire report

Hill County Disaster and Emergency Services has issued an update on road closures for the county as of May 23, 2023.

A sudden increase in high temperatures following heavy snow through the winter led to extreme flooding, causing the county and the state to declare a disaster due to the flooding. The disaster declaration also included Liberty and Blaine counties and the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation.

The declaration also allows the chance for President Joe Biden to issue a federal disaster declaration, providing access to federal assistance.

The Hill County DES announcement advises that the list of road closures and problem areas are subject to change, and there is no timeline on reopening at this time.
