Art Alley Spring Celebration set for June 3

Staff and wire report

People are again invited to an afternoon and evening of art, music and companionship in downtown Havre.

"Spring is here and plans are in the works for this year's Spring Celebration in the Art Alley in downtown Havre," a release said, adding, "This year's celebration will be Saturday, June 3."

The release adds that, weather permitting, the activity is planned for 3-7 p.m. that day.

The Art Alley is the result of years worth of work to clean up and decorate the alley between Third and Fourth avenues on the block between Second and Third streets.

In 2015, the Art and Beautification Committee Downtown Havre Matters! took on an "ambitious goal to add colorful art through multiple mediums to enhance the downtown core, to give the downtown a more visible artsy vibe," the organizers of the spring celebration have said.

The plan included lighting, public art and beautification in the alleyway between Second and Third streets behind Havre Hardware & Home and Cavaliers. The first Art Alley project completed was lighting the alley between Third and Fourth avenues.

Since then, multiple works of art and murals have been added.

The Spring Celebration started in 2021, and has been a success from the beginning

The organizers said they are pleased with the success.

"The Art and Beautification Committee of Downtown Havre Matters!, in partnership with the Hi-Line Arts Council, is again excited to offer this fun, family activity to the community as part of their kickoff to summer with our event sponsors, Independence Bank and Tilleman Motor Co. and Jeep," the release said. "This year's celebration has much family fun, showcasing local bands and musicians, food trucks, a variety of art including local artists along with a project just for kids, (all) in store for Saturday, June 3, between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

"Join your friends and family in the Art Alley following the Bear Paw Marathon," the release adds.
