Despite rain throughout the past week, Golfing for a Cure Tournament and other local golf tournaments were able to push through and hold competition.
I know Havre got a lot of rain last week, but I also know ya’ll got a lot of awesome golf in as well.
The annual Golfing for a Cure Tournament was moved from Saturday to Sunday, where much, much better weather made for an excellent day. As I’ve stated many times, this was always my favorite tournament for so many reasons, and judging from the photos I saw, it was an awesome turn out yet again.
Unfortunately, conditions at Beaver Creek Golf Course weren’t as favorable. After 1.5 inches of rain, the Chester Swim Team Tournament had to be postponed Saturday.
In other tournament news, congrats to Mike Evans for winning a senior tour event at the Ranch Club in Missoula recently. He played against a field of 35 players ages 60-69, including Havre buddies Lunar Evans and Cal Wirtzberger. Spike scored 67 points in the Modified Stableford scoring event, which moved him into the Montana Senior Tour finals in September. Great playing Spike.
League golf continued on this past week. In men’s league at Prairie Farms last Tuesday, Pasco Ready Mix scored 22 points for high-team honors. Dave Sheppard, Tom Haas, Gary Stretch and Delmer Henry made up the team. Jeremy Jensen fired a 2-under 34 for low gross, while Barry Zanto was low net with a 32.
On Wednesday night, Gallery Lounge scored 23 points for high team. Mike Evans, Kerry Ward, Cal Wirtzberger and Dave Peterson made up the winning squad. Robert Tate shot a stellar 33 for low gross, while Jase Kato and the father-son tandem of Shane Patacsil Sr. and Jr., all shared low net at 32.5.
Last Thursday night saw Ali Ward shoot a 38 for low gross, while Lorrie Keller shot 32 for low net. High team went to Patrick Construction with 22 points. The team was made up of Stacy Mantle, Katie Heath, Barb Eslick and Sue Armstrong.
Next up on the local tourney schedule is the HEDA Tournament Saturday at BCGC and the Northern Football Tournament at Prairie Farms.
