Local Golf Report: Rotary Blast returns to Havre

It was Rotary Blast week in Havre last weekend, but before I get to the winners and such, I'd just like to say, I really missed ya'll last weekend.

I have been playing in one form or another of that tournament since the Burrito Blast days at Beaver Creek Golf Course. That event was literally my indoctrination into tournament golf, and it's been my favortie for many, many years. So I really missed it, and I hope everybody had an awesome time, and an awesome weekend. And thanks as always to Jimmy and Doug, everybody else who pitches in, the Rotary Club, Prairie Farms and everybody I didn't mention for making the tourney such an amazing event.

As for Sunday, it was all about Shane Patacsil and Cody Mattfeldt, who got to +22 to win the tourney. That's some great shooting in that format, fellas. I also have to congratulate my former Blue Pony golf and tennis stars Theron Peterson and Caleb Spangler for finishing second as well. It is so awesome to see that next generation of local golfers starting to play in leagues and tournaments. We need the young guys to carry it on, and they're doing that.

It was a big tournament weekend in general in Havre as well, as BCGC held its first-ever Iron Warriors Golf Tournament, which was raising money for first-responder families. The tourney last weekend raised $12,000. What a great cause, so way to go Craig and Heidi, everybody at BCGC and everybody who played or helped with the tourney!

Finally, I have to say a huge congrats to Lauren Miller for carding a hole-in-one back on July 1 at Prairie Farms. Lauren aced the Par-3 17th hole at Prairie with a pitching wedge, and the shot was witnessed by her soon-to-be hubby, C.J. Amazing job, Lauren!
