Blue Ponies win Malta Invitational to end regular season

The Havre High cross country teams ended the regular season with the Capital City 7 on 7 and the Malta Invitational this past week. The Blue Ponies ran well as both the boys and girls teams won the Malta Invitational.
The Havre High cross country teams wrapped up the regular season with a pair of meets this past week. First, several Blue Ponies ran in the Capital 7 on 7 in Helena Thursday. The Ponies then competed in the Malta Invitational Saturday, where the both the boys and the girls teams finished first.
The Ponies started the week with the 7 on 7. In the first boys race, Caleb Tomac finished seventh with a time of 15:59.33.
The Ponies then competed in Malta where both teams won their meets. The HHS boys team finished first with a score of 12, with Harlem coming in second and Frazer taking third. Tomac took first in the 5,000-meter race with a time of 16:28.1.
Fellow Pony Mason Gregoire finished third with a time of 17:36.1 and Brayden Nimmick took ninth with a time of 19:50.2. Koby Preputin took 11th with a time of 19:55.3 and Dylan Kunz took 13th with a time of 20:32.8. Cesar Lara finished 16th, Eric Messinger took 20th and Rowdy Doney took 30th for the Ponies.
The HHS girls team won its meet with a score of 10. Behind the Ponies were Shelby in second and Chinook in third.
Ashlyn Ford won the 5,000-meter race with a time of 19:53.3. Her teammate Hailey Gingery finished fifth with a time of 21:36.1 and Paige Anderson took sixth with a time of 22:13.3.
Fellow Pony Clara Haslem finished eighth with a time of 22:27.8 and Sarah Bachmeier took ninth with a time of 22:57.2. Gracie Shandorf took tenth and Ariel Ost finished 13th for the Ponies.
Marley Springer took 14th, Mackenzie Hanson took 16th, Jaidyn Cole took 22nd and Katie Messinger finished 35th to round it out for the Ponies.
The HHS cross country teams will next begin the postseason with the Eastern A Fall Classic in Livingston Friday.
