Northstars split in Billings

A busy week of American Legion baseball for the Havre Northstars started last Wednesday night when the Northstars fell to to the Great Falls AA Chargers in Great Falls.

Havre dropped the non-conference game in Great Falls 7-3.

After giving up two runs in the first inning, Havre scored three times in the third inning. Left fielder Archer Sawdy would score on an error after second baseman Tyson Brandon was able to reach base. Two batters later, DH Jevin Jenkins singled in Brandon, but not before shortstop Ezra Pyle scored in the same at-bat via a wild pitch.

Great Falls would answer back with two runs in the fourth inning, followed by three insurance runs in the fifth inning to put the game away as Great Falls held Havre to just four hits while striking out 10.

The Northstars also made a trip to Billings last Sunday, where they split a doubleheader with the Class A Billings Cardinals.

Havre lost the first game 2-1 with Ezra Pyle the leading hitter, while the Northstars bounced back to win the second game 11-8. Terek Shipp got the win for Havre, which improved to 3-4 on the season.

Havre will host its annual Alumni Game on May 31.
