Skylights sign Washington star

Montana State University-Northern women's basketball coach Chris Mouat has announced the signing of Lynnea Moran to join the Skylights in the fall.  Moran is a 5-5 guard from Hanford High School in Richland, Wash.  Hanford High School competes in the Mid-Columbia Conference (MCC) at the 4A level.

This past season, Moran was a First-Team All-MCC selection and she was also named to the All-Defensive team. She eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for her career and broke the single-game scoring record at Hanford High with a 36-point effort, breaking a record that had stood for over 30 years.  She scored 441 points this season good for an average of over 20 points per game, and she finished her career with 1,135 total points.

"We are really excited to have Lynnea on board," Mouat said. "She is a dynamic guard who does good things at both ends of the floor.  She is an excellent scorer and shooter, and also takes a lot of pride in being a defensive stopper.  he is a great addition to our program."

During her career, she was a three-time WIAA Athlete of the Week and a three-time SB Live Washington Athlete of the Week.  She earned MCC All-Conference honors three times, was an MCC All-Defensive Team pick, and a three-time SWX Regional All-Star.  In both 2023 and 2024 she was named the Hanford High winter Athlete of the Year and a Washington State All-State All-Star.

"Lynnea was very highly-decorated while playing in a great league," Mouat said. "She has been well-coached along the way and comes from a family of basketball players.  In the classroom and on the court, she has been highly successful, she is going to make a big impact for us."

Lynnea is the daughter of Priscilla and Tony Moran.  She plans on majoring in business at MSU-Northern.
