Obituary - John C. Rosenbaum

John C. Rosenbaum passed away peacefully at Northern Montana Hospital surrounded by his family on May 24, 2024.

He was born in Havre to Cloyd and Mildred (Beck) Rosenbaum December 26, 1946, and was raised and educated in Chinook.

After graduating from Chinook High, he attended Great Falls Clinic/Montana Deaconess School of Radiologic Technology and graduated in 1967. John then moved to Havre to work as an X-ray technologist at the Deaconess and Sacred Heart hospitals and quickly became manager of the departments in both hospitals. After the two hospitals merged and became Northern Montana Hospital, John continued to be imaging manager.

Later, John became vice president of professional services and continued as manager of Imaging until his retirement in 2015. John worked a total of 43 years at Northern Montana Hospital. Patient care and professionalism were extremely important to him. What he cherished most was his imaging family and how he became a father figure to many of his employees.

During John's teenage years, he loved to do mechanic work on his 1954 Ford four-door that he and his father painted in his favorite color, midnight blue. John and many of his high school friends would drag race and he often tells a story of how he beat his friend Gary (supposedly Gary had the better car). His free time was also spent working on and drag racing his red/white/blue AMC Scrambler with his closest friends.

John and Nancy married in 1973 and a family of three children was quickly added. There are many fond memories of John playing in the sand box, setting up the swing set and building a tree house for his children and grandchildren. He and his family loved living in the country and raising many animals and having an enormous garden. John was happiest when he was busy maintaining and improving the family's country home.

John had a vast and varied array of hobbies and interests. He could fix anything, build anything and had a love for woodworking which has led to many beautiful furnishings being added to the family home. Reading was a passion of his and he enjoyed reading a wide range of titles in order to enhance his love of learning and vocabulary. Listening to and singing along with latest vinyl records, eight tracks and cassette tapes was also common practice in the home and on road trips. Traveling was also one of John's favorite things to do. He and Nancy were fortunate enough to travel to many places in the United States as well as Europe. John's favorite places to visit were Denmark and Hawaii.

John was well-known for his sense of humor with his endless bad Dad jokes and silly catch phrases.

What John loved most about his life was his family ... his wife, children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Nancy; his children, whom he loved beyond measure and what he would say were his greatest accomplishments, Tami (Ron) Jendro of Lincoln, Jason (Terra) Rosenbaum of Fairfield, and Annie (Chris) Schwenke of Havre; his grandchildren, who were the highlight of his life, Teagan (Isabel) Jendro, Tanner (Regan) Lowe, Taylor (Cody) Stipcich, Mackenzie Rosenbaum, Madalyn Lowe, Madison Rosenbaum, Brielle Grubb, and one great-grandbaby on the way; sister and brother-in-law, Sue (Bob) Kancir of Vermont; brother-in-law, Bennet Larson of Minnesota; several nieces and nephews, as well many dear friends.

Per John's request no funeral service will take place. A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the Havre Inn & Suites.

Memorials and/or donations can be made to the Sletten Cancer Center, any pet rescue/animal shelter, or to the donor's choice.
