Harlem schools holding open house Aug. 19

Harlem Public Schools is starting off its first school week with an open house Monday, Aug. 19

The Elementary Open House is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with a building construction updates set for 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

The High School Open House is set for 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a building construction update from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

A community picnic is set in between, scheduled in the elementary school lunchroom from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The first full day of school Tuesday, Aug. 20, with the school day starting at 7:55 a.m.

The doors will open at 7:25 a.m. and people are asked not to drop students off before that.

"Let's start the year out on a strong start with great attendance," a post on the live feed section of the school district website said.

The post said people with questions can call the secretaries at both buildings, Taylor at the elementary school at 406-353-2258, Wendy at the junior/senior high school at 406-353-2287, or Machkenzie at the district office at 406-353-2289.

The district's Fall Sports Parents Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 5:30 p.m. in the high school library. It is mandatory for all student-athletes and parents to attend the meeting , a post said.

The district's fall practice schedule shows the practices start Friday, Aug. 16, with cross country starting at 7 a.m., high school football starting at 8 a.m. and high school volleyball starting at 4:30 p.m.

The post said junior high football practice starts Monday, Aug. 12, at 8 p.m. and Aug. 19 at 4 p.m. is the start for both junior high cross country and junior high volleyball.

Student athletes must have a Montana High School Association sports physical completed before practicing.
