Lights shine at Spokane Open

A very busy week for the Montana State University-Northern wrestling team ended with success at Sunday’s Spokane Open.

Northern placed five grapplers at the Spokane tourney led by three wrestlers in the championship.

Teammates Devin Crawford and Orion Thivierge both reached the final match at 174 pounds. They decided not to conduct the championship match. Northern also saw Justin Windauer reach the 157-pound championship before falling to Hunter Hobbs from Providence.

At 125 pounds, Kolten Powers also got third and Ryan Graves placed fifth at 165 pounds.

Last Friday also saw the Lights wrestle to Cascade Conference duals in LaGrande, Oregon.

Northern crushed Evergreen State 43-6 but fell to arch rival Eastern Oregon 28-12.

The Lights are off this weekend, but will return to action Dec. 6 with the Argos Duals and Dec. 7 with the Battle of the Rockies in Great Falls.
