Out our way, most of the folks who look like cowhands actually ARE cowhands. They seldom are seen with clanking spurs in town, normally do not go about with their jeans tucked into their boots, and their hats are generally beat up and weather worn. Of course one can have all that and still not be much more than a dust eater like me - relegated to ride drag on drives and roundups due to my lack of skills.
