Gary & Leo's Fresh Foods was forced to close and evacuate employees and customers around 3:45 p.m. Thursday afternoon after a heater in a back room began producing smoke which filled the building. Havre Fire and Police responded to the scene, and the building was reopened about half an hour later. Co-owner John Malisani said there was no fire during the incident. No injuries were reported. The annual Chinook High School Future Farmers of America fundraiser Montana Country Poets and Pickers is celebrating its 25th year and is gathering cowboy poets and musicians from across Montana, Canada and surrounding states to perform for the three-day event. “If you happen to be in Chinook at the time the shows starts we’ll welcome you,” organizer Dale Mailand said.
