Bison nip Blue Pony grapplers

It's been a while, but the Great Falls High Bison finally found a way to upsend the Havre Blue Pony wrestling team.

The Ponies lost their annual dual with the Bison 42-36 Thursday in Great Falls.

Havre got a huge edge right away as Eli Hinebauch, who just went down to 145 pounds, defeated GFH's top-ranked Class AA 145-pounder Dylan Mendenhall by pin at 5:12.

And HHS kept rolling early with wins by Grant Pattison and Kameron Pribyl, as well as Jared Ruttokfsky. Duell Stadel and Dillon Seely also grabbed victories for the Blue Ponies on Thursday, but bonus points and two HHS forfeits allowed the Bison to pull ahead for the a margin of victory which was just six points.

Still, HHS wrestled very well, and the Ponies were without a pair of key grapplers in their lineup, so the outcome certainly could have gone the other way.

Havre is back in action today and Saturday in Missoula.
