More post office ornaments on the way

Editor:

The Havre/Hill County Historic Preservation Commission held its monthly meeting on Dec. 13 and during that meeting there was a great deal of discussion about the 2011 limited-edition post office ornament.

The reasoning behind ordering only 50 "Numbered Edition" ornaments was that we were working with a limited budget, and we had not anticipated the huge demand by the community. After thoroughly discussing the various options, the commission has voted to issue additional ornaments.

These "Second Edition" ornaments will not be numbered. The new ornaments will be available exclusively at the Havre Area Chamber of Commerce with delivery anticipated Dec. 21.

Next year, once the commission has designated a building for the 2012 ornament, more numbered ornaments will be ordered to meet the demand; however, we feel it is important to keep the number issued low in order to make them more collectable.

We hope that those who have already purchased one of the 50 "Numbered Edition" ornaments will realize the value their ornaments hold due to the numbering on the back. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused, but hope that this solution will provide ornaments to those individuals who missed out on the first 50. We sincerely thank the community for its support and look forward to making these ornaments an annual tradition.
