Community partners help make Havre Pride Day a success

Havre Pride Day cleanup on Saturday was a great success. The Havre Pride Committee of the Havre Area Chamber of Commerce led the way for the spring clean-up campaign in partnership with Recycle Hi-Line and recycling partners Walmart and Pacific Steel & Recycling.

The turnout to help clean up Havre and recycle was awesome. Thank you to each and every one of you that gave time to pick up many areas around town. I want to give a shout out to the schools, which did their cleanup Friday afternoon even though Mother Nature decided to give us a touch of spring rain. A thank-you goes out to all who recycled Saturday … it was awesome crazy at the recycling areas.

We are thankful for all the help we had for our spring community clean up on Saturday. It was great to see so many people out. The Havre Pride activity is a communitywide effort to clean up our town. The goal is to first get community members working together on clean up efforts and, second, to educate people on the subject of litter and community pride.

As with any project, it takes many to make it work and be successful. The partnership with Recycle Hi-Line — adds to the importance of the weekend. Thank you to all who helped to make Havre Pride Day another community success.

Don't forget — you can recycle the third Saturday of each month at the parking lot at 1st Street and 5th Avenue.

The mission of the Havre Pride Committee is to have the cleanest town in Montana. And, with everyone helping every day of the year — not just two selected weekends each year — together we can accomplish that mission.

(Debbie Vandeberg is executive director of Havre Area Chamber of Commerce.)
