MSU-Northern rodeo team gets to stay home this weekend

After their first rodeo of the season was canceled, the Montana State University Northern Lights and Skylights finally got their Big Sky Region fall season started this past weekend.

Northern was in Glendive Friday and Saturday for the Dawson Community College Rodeo, where the Lights took sixth place, while the Skylights didn’t have a team score.

Northern’s Liam Marshall had a great ride in the bareback riding, finishing second with a score of 58 to lead the Lights. Jerome Would also finished sixth for the Lights in the team roping.

Now of course, the exciting portion of Northern’s fall schedule comes.

This weekend, the Lights and Skylights will host their only home rodeo of the 2019-20 season, when the MSU-Northern Big Sky Region Rodeo comes to the Great Northern Fairgrounds.

The rodeo will be three days of action and will feature much of the Big Sky Region, including Montana State, Montana, Montana Western, the University of Providence, DCC and Miles Community College.

Of course, taking center stage will be the Lights and Skylights of head coach Doug Kallenberger and, like they do each September, they’ll be looking to make their home rodeo a great one.

The MSU-Northern Big Sky Region Rodeo will feature performances Friday and Saturday night, as well as Sunday afternoon. All the action takes place at the Great Northern Fairgrounds.
