    Havre Daily News Staff Local veterans organizations have planned services to honor the fallen on Memorial Day, and are looking for some help in honoring them the day before. Les Johnson, commander of American Legion Post 11, said the Veterans Honor Guard will be placing flags Sunday at the graves of military veterans in Highland Cemetery, and would welcome help.     As the jury trial of the Havre man accused of attempted deliberate homicide continued Wednesday, jurors watched a video in which the alleged attacker says he drunkenly blacked out and has no recollection of stabbing his friend. “I can’t believe I stabbed someone, man,” Nevada St. Marks said in the interview video. “Everything is just a blur.   • Mill Levies pass in Hill County

    Two mill levies that were on the ballot in Hill County were approved by voters in Thursday's special election, As of 11:30 Thursday night, results from the Montana Secretary of State's website show both mill levies passed by wide margins. The Hill County Public Cemetery District's request to levy up to 4 mills more a year passed 56 percentg to 44 percent.   • Gianforte wins Special Election for the U.S House of Representatives; Quist wins Hill County by 17 votes

    The Associated Press has reported that Republican Greg Gianforte has won Montana's special election to the U.S. House of Representatives. Gianforte, a retired Bozeman entrepreneur and his party's 2016 candidate for governor, took 50 percent of the vote with a total of 189,473, the Montana Secretary of State website says. Democrat Rob Quist took 44 percent with 166,483 votes while Libertarian Mark Wicks earned 21,509, or 6 percent of the vote.     Paulette Pipe is a proud mother who says she's "elated" that her three youngest children will walk together in the Box Elder High School graduation ceremony Saturday.     J.J. Colby has collected 2,300 used plastic pop bottles, and he plans to build a greenhouse with them and earn his Eagle Scout badge in the process.
