Idaho man pleads guilty in Rocky Boy shooting

A Fort Hall, Idaho, man pleaded guilty in federal court in Great Falls to shooting a woman in the leg while he was at Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation.

Creston Kindness, 30, pleaded guilty Wednesday to assault resulting in serious bodily injury. Judge Keith Strong scheduled a sentencing hearing for Sept. 25.

The charges were filed after Kindness shot the woman because she would not tell him where his girlfriend was, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a press release Wednesday.

Kindness was apprehended by Rocky Boy police in the bathroom of the residence. The weapon, a .40 caliber Smith and Wesson handgun, was later found in that room.

The bullet, which mushroomed, went through the victim’s leg. She was hospitalized for two days.
