Hi-Line Athletes of the Week

Rachel Majeres, Havre Softball

The Havre High softball team had little trouble in its home debut Saturday against Browning. And in a 21-0 Central A victory, junior Rachel Majeres had no trouble either. On the mound, Majeres didn’t surrender a hit to the Indians in three innings of work. But she was equally as good at the plate, going 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Majeres also collected two hits and four RBIs in Havre’s doubleheader at Belgrade Thursday. Majeres, who also runs cross country at HHS, was a member of HHS’s state champion basketball team this year. Majeres has been a varsity softball player for three straight seasons.

Jeff Miller, Havre Tennis

It's no surprise that Havre High sophomore Jeff Miller is off to a strong start to the 2014 tennis season. But strong isn’t good enough to describe what Miller did from last Friday to Monday. At the Class A Duals in Cut Bank last weekend, Miller went a perfect 4-0, never giving up more than two games in any match against Northwest A opponents. Then, on Monday, he came back to Havre to go 3-0 and win the Havre Invitational singles title. The 2013 Class A All-State performer is now a perfect 12-0 this spring. Miller is also a standout golfer, and will play on the Havre North Stars baseball team this summer.
