Rain interrupts all local baseball games

Heavy rain cost the Havre North Stars any chance of continuing their current Northern A American Legion hot streak.

The North Stars’ conference doubleheader with the Tri-County Cardinals was washed away Tuesday afternoon, and in fact, the rain was so heavy over the area, Havre never had to depart for Conrad. No makeup date has been set as of yet.

Havre, which is 4-2 in league play, and 9-8 overall, will try and get its conference doubleheader with the Great Falls Electrics in today. The Northern A battle is set for this afternoon at Don Olson Field in Great Falls.

The North Stars are also on the road this weekend. They are set to play in the Deer Lodge Tournament, which runs Friday through Sunday. Havre returns home for games against the Missoula Prospects next Monday and Tuesday, and a game against the Great Falls Volts Thursday night.

Meanwhile, heavy rains in Havre soaked baseball fields all over town Tuesday, and that forced the postponement of the start of the Havre Youth Baseball Babe Ruth City Tournament. The tourney was set to begin Tuesday night at Legion Field, but the field was not ready due to heavy rain. The Babe Ruth tourney will start tonight, weather permitting, and now run through Friday night. Games are scheduled for 5:30 and 7:30 tonight and Thursday night. The championship is slated for 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The HYBA Major League city tournament is still scheduled to run from Thursday night to Sunday afternoon at Lions Park.
