LANDSLIDE: GOP sweeps Hill County

Republicans swept every open seat in traditionally Democratic Hill County Tuesday night.

Republicans gathered in elation at Town House inn to celebrate the results.

Rep. Kris Hansen won the closely watched State Senate District 14 race, defeating incumbent Greg Jergeson, a mainstay in Democratic politics for four decades. Hansen lost Havre, but she swept by large margins in Chouteau, Cascade and Liberty counties.

Political newcomer Stephanie Hess narrowly defeated another Democratic mainstay, Janet Trethewey , a Havre city councilwoman, in District 28, the city of Havre.
