Obituary - Ilene Ella Ray

Ilene Ella Ray, 86, passed away Monday, May 18, 2015, at the Big Sandy Memorial Hospital.

Ilene Ella Ray was born June 28, 1928, at the farm home of her parents, Mark and Ida (Reinholz) Bobbe at Forbes, North Dakota. She was the second child of four children. She attended rural grade school and graduated from Ellendale High School. The next four years she attended college - University Branch and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree with majors in science and physical education. Her first teaching position was in 1950 in Big Sandy, Montana. She taught home economics, chemistry, and girls physical education.

July 1, 1951 she married a local farmer Lindy Ray. She continued teaching that year and again in Fort Benton in 1959. To them were born three daughters Linda, Nancy and Lisa.

She was active in many organizations. She was a 50-year member of Eastern Star holding an office for 49 years; president of VFW Auxiliary Post 6107, past matron, Hobby Club, Naomi Circle, hospital guild, bridge club, Historical Society, Republican committee woman, Daughters of the Nile and a substitute teacher for 45 years.

They bought a house in town in 1965 and moved to town when they retired in 1995. She was a great seamstress, excellent cook, hired man and truck driver. Harvest time was her busy time. She did a lot of things for her three girls and nine grandchildren while keeping up with her husband. She was the best sales representative Herberger's never had.

Survivors are her husband of almost 64 years, Lindy Ray; daughters, Linda (Walt) Scotson of Covington, Washington, Nancy Arthun of Wilsall, Montana, and Lisa (Roger) Sammons of Cut Bank, Montana; her nine grandchildren, Joshua, Caleb, Levi (Sarah) and Hannah (Josh) Scotson, Mark (Jocelyn), Cole (Sara) and Selisse Arthun, and Sage and Sierra Sammons; great-grandchildren, Emilia, Natalie, Parker, KyraAnn, Aiden and Keela; her two brothers, Roger (Dorthy) Bobbe and Lorne (Darlene) Bobbe; and sister-in-law, Marabelle Bobbe, of Ellendale, North Dakota. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Guy Bobbe, all of Ellendale, North Dakota.

Private family services will be planned at a later date.
