Rocker cuts ribbon at Havre skate park

Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament was on hand with city officials and a good-sized crowd Friday for a noon ribbon-cutting to mark the grand opening of a new section of Havre's skate park.

The ceremony took place at the skate park, located at 9th Street and 9th Avenue, with young bike riders and skateboarders speeding about.

Ament, a Big Sandy native and skateboarding enthusiast, provided the $50,000 to cover the cost of constructing a skatable pool, a concrete bowl about 30-foot-by-50-foot and 16,000 square feet, that is a common feature of skate parks, with curved walls that allow skateboarders an...
