Hi-Line Athletes of the Week

Jackie Martin, Havre High Swimming

The Havre High girls swim team did something special when the Ponies knocked off Billings Central at the Class A Invite last Saturday in Havre. And senior Jackie Martin had a big hand in that. Martin won the 100-meter butterfly in the event, with a time of 1:27.55. She also finished fourth in the 50-meter freestyle and swam several legs on Havre's winning relay teams. Martin has been a part of the HHS swim team her entire high school career and helped the Ponies finish second at state last season.

Tate Niederegger, Chinook Wrestling

Chinook junior Tate Niederegger missed the early part of the wrestling season with a minor injury. But, he's making up for lost time now. In December, Niederegger won the 132-poound title at the prestigious CMR Holiday Classic, and this past weekend, he breezed to another 132-pound title at the Cut Bank Invitational. Niederegger is unbeaten on the season, and is a defending state champion. He's also coming off an All-State and state championship season in football.
