Obituary - Dean Thomas Hasler

Dean Thomas Hasler of Chinook passed away with his family by his side Sept. 11, 2016, at the age of 59.

Dean was born July 11, 1957, in Casper, Wyoming, to Thomas Webster Hasler and Marjorie Annamae Hoover. He was raised in Malta and graduated from Malta High School in 1975. At age 18, Dean enlisted in the Montana National Guard and served for six years. Dean relocated to Chinook, Montana, shortly after high school, where he then worked for Ezzie's Wholesale for 26 years. In 2000, Dean moved on and kept very busy working several occupations. He worked in oil, truck driving, farming, and ranching.

Dean greatly enjoyed all the farmers and ranchers he would meet delivering fuel; he took great pride in keeping his customers happy. When he wasn't delivering fuel, Dean would ranch, build, fix or help any of his many loyal friends with whatever they needed done. Dean knew how to put in a hard day's work. He loved being a tough guy, he could handle his own, and he could do it all without messing up his mustache. Many were lucky enough to see Dean's soft side. Dean was a very loving father who was very proud that he had raised such a lovely daughter. Papa Dean greatly enjoyed giving his three grandchildren sweets, four-wheeler rides, and helping them tip over junk cars with the tractor. He was a compassionate father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend who would have given the shirt off of his back if someone needed it. Dean will be missed by many.

Dean is survived by his daughter Heather (Micky) Haney of Havre; father Thomas (Connie) Hasler of Fort Benton; brothers Ross (Jo) Hasler of Malta and David (Tami) Hasler of Fort Benton; grandchildren, Lexi, Lizzi and Grady Haney; nephews Kevin and Lance Hasler and niece Bailey Hasler.

Dean was preceded in death by his mother Marjorie of Malta and his faithful four-legged friend, Scooter.

Dean asked that his ashes be spread in the Bears Paw Mountains with close friends and family. A celebration of life will be held at the Mint Bar in Chinook at a later date.

Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
