    HELENA . (AP) — A 72-year-old Montana outfitter who pleaded guilty in 2005 to illegal outfitting on a national forest faces new charges, including illegally taking four mountain lions. LaMonte J. Schnur owns Monte's Guiding & Mountain Outfitting in Townsend. The charges against him include outfitting on federal public lands without a proper permit, employing an unlicensed guide, unlawful possession of a game animal and unprofessional conduct.   • Bill would ban cellphone use in vehicle

    BOZEMAN (AP) — A bill being drafted by a Billings legislator would ban cellphone use while driving in Montana. Most major cities in Montana have enacted bans on talking and texting while driving. According to the Montana Department of Transportation, approximately 63 percent of Montanans already live in areas that ban cellphone use while behind the wheel. Democratic Rep.   • Pipeline breach spills oil into Yellowstone River

    BILLINGS — Montana officials said Sunday that an oil pipeline breach spilled about 50,000 gallons of oil into the Yellowstone River near Glendive, Montana, but they said they are unaware of any threats to public safety or health. The Bridger Pipeline Co. spill occurred Saturday night, said Dave Parker, a spokesman for Gov. Steve Bullock. The initial estimate is that 1,200 barrels of oil spilled, which is about 50,000 gallons, he said. The Havre High girls defeated the Rocky Boy Morning Stars 48-40 Saturday night in Rocky Boy, while the Rocky Boy Stars rolled past the Blue Ponies 90-72.   • Skylights roll past Bears, Lights fall on the road

    The Montana State University-Northern women's basketball team made it a perfect 4-0 start to Frontier Conference play. On Saturday night, the No. 11 Skylights beat the Rocky Mountain College Battlin' Bears 67-53 in Billings. With the win, Northern also moved to 19-1 overall. The Skylights will be back home to host UM-Western and Westminster next weekend. Also on Saturday night, the MSU-Northern men couldn't get past host RMC, as the Lights fell 66-56 in Billings.     The Bear Paw Ski Bowl’s opening day is Saturday, after last week’s final snow showers and some quick grooming of the slopes were completed. The ski bowl sits south of Havre in the Bear Paw Mountains just south of Beaver Creek Park on Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation. It is about 29 miles south on Beaver Creek Road. The ski bowl is owned by the Chippewa Cree Business Committee and managed by a nonprofit organization called Snow Dance Ski Association. The organization runs the mountain through volunteer work.
