  • Pastors Corner: "Love" the great reveal of the Holy Spirit

    Updated May 15, 2020

Reading 1: Acts of the Apostles 8:5-8, 14-17 Reading 2: 1 Peter 3: 15-18 Gospel: John 14:15-21 In the Roman Catholic faith tradition, the scripture readings above are the readings for this Sunday. In the Gospel reading verse 15 Jesus says, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” Then in verse 21 Jesus says: “Whoever has my commandments and observes them is the one who loves me.” It seems to me we might have a problem brewing here. When we become discouraged we need to encourage ourselves in the Lord. God has many good promises available to His children but we need to appropriate the promises. It doesn’t do us much good if we find out at the end of...

    Updated May 15, 2020

Isn't it interesting, Lord, to note that the word "household" can be defined as an "occupied dwelling that has its own entrance - and a kitchen?" These views are gleaned from "Its Own Entrance and a Kitchen," by Richard G. Champion, as follows: "One ponders over 'households' with fragmented families multiplying. Households are for eating and sleeping, among other things. A bedroom isn't really necessary as one could sleep in a chair or on the floor in the kitchen. "A door,...
