EVA MCINTOSH obituary

Eva L. McIntosh, 73, died Friday, June 20, 2003, at her residence after a long battle with lung cancer.

A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Zoe Coutts and John Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland

Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon will be held at the church immediately after the services at the graveside.

Eva was born Nov. 10, 1929, and raised north of Havre to Claude and Blanche (Bjertnes) Springer. Eva attended Grainbelt School. She moved to Havre and worked for F.A. Buttrey in the shoe department. She married Stuart McIntosh on Jan. 7, 1949, in Havre. She worked at Buttreys until 1952, when she and Stuart moved to Simpson to farm. They raised their children and farmed in Simpson for many years before moving to Havre in 1998, but continued to farm.

Eva was a very caring mother and always had time for everyone, offering a kind word or a helping hand. She enjoyed gardening, her yard work and flowers. She always had huge raspberry bushes and strawberry plants. She was well known for her homemade cookies. Eva enjoyed bowling and was very active in the First Presbyterian Church serving as a deacon and also helped with 4-H. In her younger years she played softball and was instrumental in starting the Girls Softball Association. The team she played on was Eva's Globetrotters. Eva was a very active woman and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending all of their activities.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Glen, Clyde, Lynn, Vurl and Rurl Springer; sisters, Buelah Brown, Vera Swinney, and Del Allyn.

Eva is survived by her husband, Stuart McIntosh of Havre; daughter Bonnie (Jim) Shaffer of Tacoma, Wash.; sons, Alec (Karen) McIntosh of Havre, Steve (Wanda) McIntosh of Simpson; five grandchildren; companion, Lady Bug; brothers, Cliff (Katie) Springer of Havre, Fred (Betty) Springer of Kremlin, Martin (Lorna) Springer of Havre; sisters Betty Anderson of Harlem, and Ila Knudson of Cranbrook, British Columbia.

Services and arrangements are under the direction of Holland and Bonine Funeral Home.
