Great teams find a way to win. No matter what the circumstances, they always seem to come out on top, even when it seems like they shouldn't.

On Friday, with their undefeated season in jeopardy, the Harlem Wildcats did what all great teams do. The No. 1 Wildcats battled tooth and nail to come out with a victory over Shelby.

The Wildcats held a slim, one-point advantage heading into the halftime break, 23-22. Harlem could not pull away from a stubborn Shelby squad in the third quarter, and after three quarters the Wildcats led 36-32.

Harlem finished off Shelby in the fourth quarter as the Wildcats outscored the Coyotes 13-7 to close the door and earn a 49-39 win.

Eddie Moore led the way for the Wildcats with 15 points, and Wally Crantz contributed 10 points as the Wildcats remained undefeated in District 2B play.

Rocky Boy paid a visit to the North Star Knights on Friday night and gave the first-place Knights a run for their money. The Knights got off to a solid start, taking an early seven-point lead. By halftime, their lead was trimmed to 27-23.

With a 40-38 lead heading into the fourth quarter, it appeared the Knights' unbeaten conference record might be in jeopardy. However, the Knights held off the Stars and escaped with a 56-53 victory, clinching the 9C regular-season title.

Cody Donoven led the way for the Knights (10-0 conference, 13-3 overall) with 22 points, and Branden Melby added 21 points in the win. Lakota Oats led the Stars with 17 points.

On Friday night in Chinook, the Chinook Sugarbeeters used a big second half to sneak past the Big Sandy Pioneers 78-71.

Dallas Miller had a big night for the Beeters (6-4 conference, 8-8 overall) with 20 points. Jordan Lybeck had 14 points, and Marty Birky added 13 points in the win. Justin Willis scored a game-high 22 points for the Pioneers, and Karl Osterman pitched in with 14 points.

Box Elder traveled to Sunburst for a nonconference clash on Friday night and the Bears routed Sunburst 72-47.

Aaron Henry had another big game for the Bears. The 9C's leading scorer poured in a game-high 23 points.

Hays-Lodge Pole welcomed Turner to its gym Friday night for a game that, despite the teams' records, had plenty of meaning. The Thunderbirds, who have been playing well as of late, jumped out of the gates to a big lead and never looked back on their way to an 82-54 thumping of the Tornadoes.

Lance Brockie paced the T-Birds (5-6 conference, 6-10 overall) with 19 points, and AJ Long Standing added 16 points. Turner's Chad Jones scored a game-high 20 points in the loss.

Chester/J-I hosted Power on Friday night in a District 10C clash and the Hawks were able to pull out an exhilarating 65-63 overtime win.

Kevin May scored 15 points to lead the way for the Hawks, and Cullen McKinley pitched in with 13 points.

On Saturday night, Wolf Point traveled to Harlem hoping to end the Wildcats' bid for an undefeated season. Harlem got off to a running start, taking command and giving themselves a comfortable 28-18 lead at the half. The Wildcats were still in control after three quarters at 42-31, and, despite a late rally by Wolf Point, hung on to win 57-52.

Neeko Bigby exploded for 24 points for the Wildcats, and Jordan Mount added 10 points in the victory. The win clinched the District 2B title for Harlem (16-0).

Box Elder traveled to Rocky Boy on Saturday night and downed the Stars in what turned out to be an old-fashioned shootout, 74-69.

Aaron Henry poured in a game-high 28 points for the Bears (7-3 conference, 13-3 overall) and Dustin Bacon added 17 points for Box Elder. Bryant Eagleman scored 23 points for the Stars (2-8 conference, 4-12 overall).

Big Sandy and Turner squared off Saturday night in Turner in a game that turned out to be memorable. The Pioneers got out to the early lead and at the half led by a score of 31-27. Big Sandy appeared to be in control of things as it took a 50-43 lead into the final stanza, but Turner refused to go away without a fight.

Turner forged a valiant comeback that forced the game into overtime, tied at 61-61. In the end, the Pioneers had too much offense for Turner to overcome, and the Pioneers held on for a 75-69 triumph.

The Pioneers (5-6 conference, 6-10 overall) were led by Chris LaBuda, who scored 27 points in the big win. Turner (2-8 conference, 5-10 overall) fell short despite Dalton Cornell scoring 25 points in the contest. Chad Jones added 22 points in the loss.

North Star took on Chester/J-I in a nonconference clash Saturday night in Chester, and narrowly escaped with a 42-39 victory. Branden Melby led the Knights with 11 points. For the Hawks, Kevin May had a game-high 12 points.

Also on Saturday, Hays-Lodge Pole played host to Chinook and fell short, as Chinook earned a hard-fought 73-65 win.
