Audrey left this world to be with her Lord Oct. 27, 2009, at the Eastern Montana Veterans Home in Glendive, Mont. Audrey was born May 9, 1932, in Baker, Mont., to parents Cole and Florence (McManigal) Mattie. She had one little sister, Yvonne Joyce, who died in infancy. Audrey attended grade school in Golva, N.D. and graduated from high school in Baker, Mont., in 1952. Audrey married Keith Henry Mrnak in Baker, Mont., Oct. 29, 1952. They had three children, Yvonne, Duane and Darwin. During their married years, they lived in Lothair, Mont., where Audrey was postmaster, and later moved to Havre where she attended college, earning her licensed practical nursing degree in the spring of 1972. She loved being a nurse. Audrey excelled with older patients in extended care and truly loved each and every resident she cared for. Audrey never met a stranger. She loved people, enjoyed her children and grandchildren. She explored new foods and crafts with her children and grandchildren, especially enjoyed “bumming around town,” attending yard sales and visiting playgrounds with her grandkids. In her later years, she added needlecrafts and bead work to her love of sewing. In retirement, Keith and Audrey traveled to the Grand Canyon, to visit family in Minnesota, to Wisconsin, and other places in their RV, enjoying the sites and the people they met. Audrey entered the Eastern Montana Veterans Home in March 2007, where she had resided since. Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, infant sister and grandson, Derik. She is survived by her husband, Keith of Glendive; daughter, Yvonne (Ron) Gebhardt of Sidney, Mont .; and sons, Duane (Lisa) Mrnak of Grand Rapids, Minn., and Darwin Mrnak of Stanley, N.D. Audrey and Keith have five grandsons, Craig (Marci) Gebhardt of Honolulu, Hawaii, Nick (Leandra) Gebhardt of Great Falls, Mont., Scott Froehlich of Havre, Mont., Jeremy (Eve) Froelich of Bemidji, Minn., and Derik (Jennifer) Froelich of Grand Rapids, Minn .; and nine greatgrandchildren.
