Obituary - Brett Robert Stinnett

Brett Robert Stinnett, age 31, passed away in his home April 4, 2024.

Born on December 20, 1992, in Glendive, Brett was the cherished son of Russell Stinnett and Darla Handran and the loving brother of Riley Handran and Tayler Stinnett. He entered the world with an adventurous, fearless spirit and kept his guardian angel on her toes. Brett worked hard, played hard and loved hard! As a youth, he was active in organized activities such as baseball, soccer, wrestling, track, and DeMolay. Brett competed in Nationals with Jaycees Shooter Education Program (Glendive Lead Devils) and reached the state level in pole vault while competing as a Dawson County High School Red Devil.

He developed a passion for outdoor activities at a young age, and spent time with family and friends fishing, hunting, camping, jet skiing, snowboarding and boating. Brett graduated in 2011 from Dawson County High School and briefly attended Montana State University-Billings.

Brett worked for Guelff Lumber for several years before transitioning to a career as an electrician with Reynolds Electric.

In 2016, he achieved his childhood dream of becoming a fireman with the Glendive Fire Department. Brett's dedication and hard work led to his promotion to captain in 2021.

Brett possessed remarkable qualities of selflessness, love, patience and compassion. Always willing to lend a helping hand, he could light up a room with his smile and ease your worries with a long hug. Brett had an innate ability to connect with people of all ages, as evidenced by his warm and genuine nature. His childlike spirit made him an honorary "Uncle" to many.

While his physical presence may no longer be with us, Brett's legacy lives on through the memories he created and the lives he touched. May his family and loved ones find comfort in the cherished moments shared with him, and may his spirit continue to inspire acts of kindness and compassion in others. Rest in peace, Brett.

Brett is survived by grandparents Jerry and Jackie Handran; parents Darla Handran and Russell Stinnett (Amber Spring) of Havre; siblings Riley Handran (Syrell Dufner) of Dickinson and Tayler Stinnett of Miles City; niece and nephew Alieigha and Adler Whitright; aunts, uncles and cousins: Sandy, Jackie, Myles, Abby and Adison Stinnett; Eric, Kellie, Ashley (Drew) Travis, Alex (Bailey), and Zach (Tessa) Palmer; Shanon, Kade and Kaylyn Hellman.
