ANNE HAWKINS obituary

Anne Louise Hawkins, 89, formerly of Shelby, died April 22, 2010, at Northern Montana Hospital in Havre She was born March 25, 1921, in Salem, Mo., to Fred W. and Tilly (Panky) Pettigrew. The family moved to Shelby, Mont., where Anne Louise completed her education. She met and later married Joe W. Hawkins on June 14, 1942, in Shelby. To this union four chi ldren were born, JoAnne, Alvira, Fred and Joe. Together Anne Louise and Joe made a living farming, with Anne Louise doing her part as a farm wife. She enjoyed oil painting, crocheting and traveling, and was an avid NASCAR fan. In later life, Anne Louise enjoyed following NASCAR driver Tony Stuart with a bowl of popcorn and a beer! After retiring from the farm, Joe and Anne Louise launched their second career, commercial fishing in southeast Alaska, on a boat Joe built over many previous years. Later, they moved to Havre in the mid 1980s due to Joe's failing health. After Joe's death in 1988, Anne Louise began living with her daughter Alvira, where she lived until her death. Anne was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Sam and Tom Pettigrew; and her husband, Joe W. Hawkins, after more than 45 years of marriage. Surviving are her daughters, JoAnne Sinclair of Barnett, Mo., and Alvira Griffing of Havre; her sons, Fred and his wi fe Dorothy Hawkins of Billings, Mont., and Joe W. Hawkins of Alamogordo, N.M.; her sisters- in- law, Ruth Pettigrew of Shelby, Mont., and Earlien Pettigrew of Miles City, Mont.; her grandchildren and thei r spouses, Wal ter K. (Stacey) Sinclair Jr. Of Barnett, Mo., Jenny (Don) Webb of Hartville, Mo., John (Jennifer) Sinclair in Irwin, Calif., and Sam (Sarah) Sinclair of Fort Campbell, Ky.; and nine greatgrandchildren. Cremation has taken place in the care of Holland & Bonine Funeral Home of Havre. No services are planned at this time.
