EVELYN ARNESON obituary

Evelyn I. Arneson, 89, and a resident of Havre, Mont., died Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at the Care & Comfort Home in Havre, of natural causes.

Her graveside service will be held 2 p.m., Thursday at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Spokane, Wash., with Dean Ken Dunlap officiating. Burial will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery.

Memorials in Evelyn's honor may be made to the Care & Comfort Home, 1204 Cleveland Ave., Havre, MT 59501. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.

Evelyn was born April 12, 1921, in Antigo, Wis., the daughter of English-speaking immigrants from Czechoslovakia. On Sept. 22, 1943, she married George E. Arneson and the couple lived in different areas of Montana because of George's job with the railroad. The couple retired in 1979 and traveled extensively throughout the United States and Canada. In 2003, they moved to Havre from Spokane, Wash.

Evelyn was a homemaker and an excellent chef.

She enjoyed feeding people and was a great hostess. She enjoyed round dancing and square dancing. She and George enjoyed hunting and fishing.

She was known for her smile. She was a member of St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George in 2006; one son, Ronald Arneson; and one daughter, Diane Gladen.

Evelyn is survived by her son, Donald Arneson of Kalispell, Mont.; her daughter Georgene of Havre; her niece, Karen Arneson Spawn, and her two children Megan and Casey, all of Helena, Mont.; two sisters, Mary Medo and Annie Selmo, both of Milwaukee, Wis.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
