Margaret Mary 'Marge' McLean

Margaret Mary "Marge" (Bartholomay) McLean, 90, peacefully passed away Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, with her loving family by her side.

A funeral service for Marge will be 2 p. m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at the Northern Montana Care Center Chapel with Ila McClenahan officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Highland Cemetery.

Memorials in Marge's honor may be made to North Central Senior Center, 2 W. 2nd St., Havre, MT 59501 or to the Northern Montana Care Center Chapel Fund, P.O. Box 1231, Havre, MT 59501. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.

Marge was born on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25, 1920, in Dorchester, Mass., to Horace and Margaret (Garvey) Bartholomay. Marge attended schools at St. Marks in Dorchester, Mass., and a boarding school with her sister in Hallifax, Nova Scotia, followed by art school at Mount St. Vincent's.

Marge served in the Marines as a photographer from 1941 to Dec. 6, 1945, when she was honorably discharged as a corporal. Marge met Alfred D. McLean while serving in the military. They returned to Havre, married, and she worked at McLean's Grocery for nearly 50 years.

Marge was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alfred D. McLean, who passed in 1973; and one sister, Muriel Hewitt.

Marge is survived by her three children, Ken (Mary Jo) McLean of Helena, Mont. ; Margie (Rodger) Morse of Havre, Mont., and Joe (Jeanne) McLean of Havre, Mont. ; 10 grandchildren, Chad, Chet, Jeanie (Zaq), J.R. (Lindsey), Josh, Sarah (Shane), Kyle, Jerrod, Brooke and Kelsey; six great-gandchildren, Jaron, Neillea, Melina, Jersi, Brooklyn and Blake; one brother-in-law, Sandy McLean of Havre, Mont. ; and numerous nieces and nephews.
