Museum seeks new manager

The H. Earl Clack Memorial Museum Board discussed at their Monday night meeting the resignation of museum manager John Gilbert that went into effect the day prior.

He filed his letter of resignation with the board and Hill County toward the end of July, shortly after which the county opened the search for his replacement.

The search, that began on July 29, will close this Friday at 5 p. m.

Hill County Personnel Clerk Emily Mayer will be a part of the committee that selects his replacement, with board Chair Judi Dritshulas, a commissioner and a department head from the county.

Mayer said that the job description requires a high school diploma but recommends experience in retail, working with the public and education.

The goal, according to Mayer and Dritshulas, is to have the position vacant for as short an amount of time as possible, with only a small number of intermittent employees to fill in.

Gilbert started as an intermittent employee in 2006 before taking on the manager title three years ago, in May 2008.

Mayer said that Havre Job Service had heard from some interested candidates so far.

The board closed the end of the meeting, going into executive session to discuss "personnel matters" around the position.
