Robert A. Davey

Robert A. Davey, 91, died Tuesday morning, Aug. 23, 2011, at Northern Montana Care Center of natural causes. A viewing will be held at Holland & Bonine Funeral Home on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011, 4 to 6 p.m. with his graveside funeral service at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, at Highland Cemetery in Havre.

Memorials in Robert's honor may be made to Montana Chapter of Alzheimer's, Montana Service Area, 3010 11th Ave. N., Billings, MT 59101, or to the Northern Montana Care Center Chapel Fund, P.O. Box 1231, Havre, MT 59501. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.

Robert was born June 29, 1920, in Havre, Mont., to Arthur and Barbara (Null) Davey. He was raised on the family farm and ranch southeast of Havre on the Clear Creek Road. He married Minnie Chagnon Nov. 16, 1946, in Havre. Together they made their home on the family farm and ranch and raised their four children.

Besides his family, one of Robert's greatest enjoyment was farming. He loved to drive the tractors. Farming was his hobby as well as his job.

He liked reading his farm magazines and going on picnics. Robert also enjoyed taking drives daily on his land. In his younger years he and Minnie enjoyed going to town and dancing at the Eagles or wherever there was good music.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Betty Carpenter; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

Robert is survived by his wife of 65 years, Minnie Davey of Havre, Mont.; his children, Marie Kuhn of Bozeman, Mont., William R. Davey and Fred (Violet) Davey, both of Havre, Mont., and Barbara (Jack) Guard of Ohio; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
