Chairmen needed for Chinook's community Thanksgiving dinner

Editor:

The annual Chinook Community Thanksgiving dinner has been a traditional for many, many years.

Many of those who work at the dinner each fall have been doing their part for a good number of those years.

Dorris Hamilton and Larry Wisch worked with Kathy Lenhardt when she first began organizing the Thanksgiving dinners, and they have co-chaired it for some time now.

Unfortunately, time has a way of taking quite a toll on us human beings, and health problems are now making it impossible for many of those dedicated to serving others for the holiday to continue.

This is a plea to all those out in the Chinook community who may be interested in working on this very worthwhile project to please come forward.

Each year donors and those who attend the dinner are generous with their free-will donations and there has always been enough money to pay for the supplies needed to provide a mouth-watering turkey dinner with all of the trimmings. With the records that have been kept and the organization that has been in place year after year, it would be a fairly easy thing to step in and take up the reins. Everyone who does a particular "job" is willing to show someone new how it is done.

The annual Thanksgiving Dinner has been such a wonderful thing for our community, and it would be a real shame to see it come to a halt. With so many talented people living around here, there surely must be someone who would be willing and able to keep it going. For any information or answers to any questions, you can call Dorris Hamilton at 357-2752, or Larry Wisch at 357-3387.
