Hi-Line area spikers honored

A number of prep athletes from across the Hi-Line were honored recently for their volleyball prowess.

The District 6C East recently released its 2011 All-Conference list with three players from Chinook, three from Chester/J-I, three from

North Star senior Shelby Lipp makes a pass during a District 6C East volleyball match earlier this month in Rudyard. Lipp was one of 10 local preps to be selected 6C East All-Conference for 2011.

The 6C East champion Hawks placed senior Jenni Ghekiere on the list for the third straight season, as well senior setter Nikole Wolfe and junior outside hitter Kate Graff.

The Knights, who finished second in the 6C East, placed senior Shelby Lipp on the list for the fourth straight year. Also honored from North Star was junior Lisa Carlon and sophomore Bettie Carlon. Both Carlon's played setter, as well as hitter and had outstanding matches defensively for the Knights, who advanced to the Northern C Divisional this season.

Chinook finished third in the 6C East this season, and were honored with three all-conference selections. Senior middle Kayla Hanson earned all-conference honors for a third time while sophomore middle Makhayla Farmer and junior Paige Moxley also received all-conference accolades.

Big Sandy senior Ashley Alderdice rounded out the 2011 all-conference selections.
