Theresa Aafedt-Dobrenz

Theresa Aafedt-Dobrenz, 87, of Havre, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at Northern Montana Hospital due to natural causes. Viewing will be Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, from 1 to 5 p. m. at Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. Rosary services will be held that evening at 7 p. m. at Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at 10 a. m., at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church with Father Daniel Wathen officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials in Theresa's honor may be made to St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements.

Theresa was born Jan. 17, 1925, to Peter and Josephine Belgarde in Dunseith, N.D. After a whirlwind romance, Theresa married Jeanard Aafedt in Billings, Mont., in 1945. During World War II, Theresa worked as a welder in the shipyards as "Rosie the Riveter. " Theresa and Jeanard lived in various places throughout the Northwest before moving to North Dakota to farm for a time. In 1954, the couple moved to Havre. While living in Havre, Theresa went to work for the railroad as a clerk. She worked there for 28 years. Theresa's first husband passed away in 1986. Theresa married Gene Dobrenz in 1992 in Havre. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, fishing and camping with her family, and playing cards (to win). She never missed one of her brother Charles' family reunions. Theresa was a member of the Catholic Daughters, the Eagles Auxiliary, the Moose Lodge and TOPS and did volunteer work for each organization.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Jeanard Aafedt; her son, Donald Aafedt; and several siblings.

Theresa is survived by her husband, Gene Dobrenz of Havre; daughters, Jae (Dennis) Herkal of Plymouth, Minn., and Julie (John) Troy of Great Falls, Mont. ; sons, Ron (Mary) Aafedt of Bozeman, Mont., Jeanard (Karla) Aafedt of Anchorage, Alaska, Mark (Denise) Aafedt of Anchorage, Alaska, and Darryl (Jane) Aafedt of Wasilla, Alaska; step daughters, Mary Woods of Billings, Mont., and Flo Burk of Missoula, Mont. ; step-son Gene (Connie) Dobrenz of Havre; brothers, Charles P. Belgarde of Minneapolis Minn., and John (Peggy) Belgarde of Dunseith N. D.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
