Package prompts closure of US-Canada crossing

SWEETGRASS (AP) — Authorities say a U.S.-Canada border crossing between Montana and Alberta was closed for nearly five hours after a suspicious package was delivered to the Canadian port of entry at Coutts, Alberta.

The Canada Border Services Agency says no explosives were found and the port of entry reopened at about 6 p.m. Friday.

Lynn Hurst of U.S. Customs and Border Protection says the U.S. port of entry across the border at Sweetgrass, Mont., was closed as a precaution. The U.S. side also reopened at about 6 p.m.
