Rep. Rehberg plans rally in Havre

U. S. Rep. Denny Rehberg will bring his "Liberate Main Street" effort to Havre at 11:30 a. m. Thursday when he holds a rally at Norman's Ranch and Sportswear on 3rd Avenue.

Republican Rehberg is hoping to unseat U. S. Sen. Jon Tester in the Nov. 6 election.

Rehberg's campaign secretary Kyler Nerison said Rehberg usually talks for 10 to 15 minutes at such events, then opens it up to questions from the public.

Rehberg has been holding similar rallies in communities around Montana, he said.

Rehberg will speak on what he calls the "over-taxing, over-spending and over-regulating" culture of "liberal politicians like President Barack Obama and Senator Jon Tester."

The congressman said that about 70 percent of new jobs are created by small businesses, yet Obama and Tester have blocked them by passing new taxes and regulations.

Rehberg said the initiative will encourage Montanans to support their hometown businesses in order to help create Made In Montana jobs and get folks working again.

He was especially critical of the president's $862 billion stimulus program.

Rehberg will be touting legislation that would prohibit new regulations on businesses until the unemployment rate falls to 6 percent or lower.

Nerison said Rehberg's message has struck a chord with residents in communities the campaign has visited recently.

Nerison said businesses are also concerned about Obama's health care initiatives, which Tester voted for.

"The benefits are taking effect now," he said. "But the taxes to pay for them don't kick in until 2014."
