Breaking Sports: Skylights prevail at Montana Tech

For the second Friday night in a row, the Montana State University-Northern volleyball team found itself embattled in a five-set marathon. Only this time, the Skylights came out on the winning end. Friday night in Butte, Northern defeated Montana Tech in a wild five sets by scores of 33-35, 25-15, 20-25, 25-21 and 15-13. Northern staved off elimination in the fourth set and won a nip-and-tuck fifth to end a three-game losing streak.

Abby Nicholas totaled 20 kills, while Hillary Isleifson had 17 and Kelsey Williams added 13 in the thrilling vistory. Isleifson added 13 digs, while Williams had a pair of aces and 12 digs. Holly Cartwright had 22 digs as well as Northern improved to 7-4 in the Frontier Conference and 13-12 overall.

The Skylights are on the road again Saturday night when they face Carroll College in Helena.
