Art Duff, 73, most recently of Chinook, Mont., died Nov. 20, 2012, in Center, Ky. A memorial celebration of his life will be held at Artitudes Gallery on the upper level of the Atrium Mall, 220 3rd Ave., Havre, Mont., on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, beginning at 6 p. m.

Art came to our community in 2003. He immediately became active in the Havre Art Association, and was instrumental in establishing the workings of Artitudes Cooperative Gallery. Over the years he remodeled the Art Gallery and High Plains Gallery and Gift Shop. He also created a mural using piano parts in the Atrium Mall.

Art entered numerous area art shows and was honored to have his artwork featured on the cover of the Montana Seed Show catalog in 2005 and 2010. His realistic renditions of old machinery fit the theme for the Seed Show and brought back memories to those in attendance. Art also helped judge the youth art at the Seed Show for several years.

Art's work included realistic and abstract paintings and sculptures. He was also an amateur photographer and enjoyed traveling with other artists to gather resources for his artwork.
